A Day in the Life of a Caregiver
Here is an example of a full day for a Live-In Caregiver:
8:00 AM - Good morning. The Caregiver rises and prepares breakfast, then goes into his/her client's room to help prepare him/her for the day, paying particular attention to any personal care needs. They enjoy breakfast together and plan their day. The Caregiver will then remind the client to take any morning medications and clean up the kitchen.
10:00 AM - Together they do their daily exercise program whether it's "Sittercise," "Sweating to the Oldies," or a specific exercise ordered by a physician or physical therapist. The Caregiver begins her daily housekeeping while the client enjoys his/her favorite morning talk show.
12:00 PM - The Caregiver prepares lunch that they enjoy together, as well as each other's company.
2:00 PM - Time for a mid-day nap. The client may like to lie down for a while and the Caregiver may finish any undone tasks. The Caregiver may also relax at this time.
3:30 PM - Time to rise and enjoy the rest of the day, maybe with a walk in the fresh air, a game of cards, a crossword puzzle, some arts and crafts or the daily newspaper. Then it's time to plan and prepare the evening meal.
6:00 PM - Time for dinner. They enjoy their evening meal together before a little quiet time, perhaps with a good book, some relaxing music or a favorite television show.
9:30 PM - Time for bed. The Caregiver will assist with any remaining personal care and remind the client to take any nighttime medication before escorting the client to bed. The Caregiver remains close to the client for the rest of the night to ensure the client's safety.
While in your home, the Caregiver will do everything possible to create a happy and cheerful home environment while following the care plan written by the Field Supervisor.
